In recent years I’ve become a cemetery wanderer. I initially visited them for their beauty and solitude, and was happy to make a few photographs as I went. Recently, I’m experimenting more, and the focus of my time is in the emotional power of cemeteries and how connections persist beyond death. More frequently I am using infrared capable cameras, dichroic glass, double exposures, and at times combining techniques. Though sometimes it’s still good old film. My aim is to draw out the emotional energy of cemeteries and see them not only as places of grief, but as holders of memory, connection, and unseen forces that traverse life and death.
